Bookbinding and Boxmaking Techniques for Hackers

Bookbinding and boxmaking (making slipcases, hinged boxes for books etc) use a small set of common materials and tools to make some interesting, useful and beautiful structures.
There are some really simple and accessible but interesting techniques in the craft that I think maker folks may not have come across, and are really handy for (for example) rapidly prototyping enclosures with nothing but a scalpel, some PVA and cardboard.
Bookbinding involves some beautiful materials as well - it's not so hard to make your Maplin (RIP) plastic enclosures look less beige if you know how to put them together.
Please note: I'm also running and introduction to bookbinding workshop over the weekend that will cross over with this - probably come to one or the other.
